During my education, I had the opportunity to participate in a boot-camp style UX/UI course. I created two apps; a food ordering app for a local business which I built from scratch with a colleague, and an app for tabletop gaming list-building which was more of a redesign of an existing app. I gained a solid foundation of knowledge for user-flows, prototype creation, and UX research. I hope to take on roles that utilize this knowledge in the future!
I collaborated on a prototype for a local restaurant's delivery app. With one other teammate, we conducted market research via SWAT analysis and user flow testing. We designed in dark mode as an additional challenge, as well as creating a utility for "night before" breakfast to-go orders.
The end result was an intuitive user interface with clear objectives and adherence to company branding without sacrificing accessibility.
Battlescribe is a list creation app designed for tabletop wargaming. The current app is considered the top utility amongst the wargaming community, but complaints abound regarding the unintuitive user interface and complex user flows.
I gave the app a much needed facelift and attempted to simplify user flow complaints by providing various forms of feedback in the form of interactive buttons and simplified charting interfaces. This product provided some unique challenges in the form of complex lists and modifier elements. There are several things I would do differently if I had to make a comparable app in the future, but this was a valuable experience.
